Is there an area of life you’re struggling in? By struggling I don’t mean failing, I mean performing below the standard you know you have. Have you always had ‘potential’ but know that you haven’t scratched the surface?
Here’s the thing, I’m sure when you give 75% to something you do pretty good. Probably better than most. However, if your 75% looks like someone else’s 120%, you have to change your standards. That probably starts by changing the company you keep.
This is HARD.
Do you have an accountability partner that truly holds you up to your potential? Do you have anyone in your life who even knows your potential? If the answer is not yet, you have a new focus in life. Luckily, this is a fun and rewarding one.
You don’t do anyone any favours by playing small. The best thing you can do for your family, friends and spouse is sometimes to leave their opinions behind. Don’t share your million dollar ideas with dollar thinkers. Share those ideas with people who are going to put helium in your balloon. Just because they don’t understand doesn’t mean your dreams aren’t valid, it just means it’s not their dreams.
Some people will need to see evidence before they can believe something. That’s ok. That’s the people you talk to once your company is incorporated or you’ve been able to quit your job and work for yourself full time. Others will understand the process, and help you along the way before anything shows up.
Knowing your audience will save you SO many headaches and heartaches.
It’s not your job to change anyone. It’s not your job to save anyone. Loving people exactly where they are can be the most challenging thing of all. Something magical happens when this sets in, almost like by giving people permission to be who they are, you can give yourself permission to be who you are. A wall comes down.
Don’t you love the people who just accept you? Be that person for yourself.
It’s hard but not impossible. Worth it? Probably. But then again, what do I know. Wink wink.
