Let’s talk SKIN. Not skin masks, moisturiser or makeup but how to get that enviable dewy glow from the inside out.
Soooo who’s heard of Gelatin? Apparently there’s a way (like a wayyyyyy) better use for it rather then jello shots. Go figure.
Gelatin is largely made up of the amino acids glycine & proline, which many people don’t consume in adequate amounts anymore as they are found in the bones & fibrous tissue of animals and that doesn’t seem to be much of a staple in the modern diet. These amino acids are ESSENTIAL, not just for healthy hair, skin and nails but also for a strong immune system & WEIGHT REGULATION (well hello there). Glycine in particular has also been shown to be an anti inflammatory, helping aid the healing process and can help regulate sleep quality.
❖Why I take Gelatin❖
➢ Skin benefits! Since I started taking gelatin regularly my skin has been smoother, my complexion is brighter & softer!
➢ Hair! AHHH! My hair has been so much softer and the growth has been noticeable. Also stronger with fewer split ends, despite getting it coloured regularly.
➢ Nails – my nails have been noticeably stronger & growing faster. There’s nothing worse then finally getting some length on your nails & they become brittle and break. NO MORE!
➢ Working out (weights & cardio) – gelatin has been shown to repair cartilage and connective tissue around the joints simply because those tissues contain so much collagen. Personally I’ve used magnesium supplements and I find gelatin goes above & beyond the results I got with magnesium. I always make sure to include some with my post workout shake.
*SIDE NOTE ON THIS ONE*
Ladies – if you haven’t incorporated weights into your routine yet GET ON IT! It will help you look toned and tight, give your figure shape, help your overall bone strength and increase lean muscle mass. Cardio is awesome (and necessary for some of us) but you wanna get super lean? Start lifting.
➢Weight loss! No complaints here. Because of gelatin’s ability to balance help balance hormones (hormones and weight loss – kind of a big connection there). The weight loss trick with gelatin is to (try) to stop eating 3 hours before bedtime and add 2 tablespoons to a cup of tea or water. You can add more or less depending on what works for you. Because of it’s ability to coat the stomach, it can also help with sensitive stomach & allergies.
There are DEFINITELY nights I eat within 3 hours of going to bed, it’s all about balance. Don’t stress.
I found this brand on eBay, most important things are that it’s from grass fed animals, non GMO and no MSG.
