The best morning smoothie EVER

This smoothie is bomb. Seriously. It’s crazy alkalising and a great way to get your protein & greens in the morning.

I use a big blender, I like the little nutribullet but find they can get a bit too full with what I put in them. First thing first, I add about half a cup of almond milk as a base, then I add in greens, protein & chia seeds.

 

Greens are the bomb. I use the greens +, it’s a great bang for your buck and has all the main ingredients to power up your body and mind (especially wheatgrass). Flax seeds are a great source of omega 3’s, reduce inflammation and are have a high fibre content. Flax seeds are digested best when they’re blended, so make sure if you’re not using them in a smoothie you blend them down first. You can find them at any grocery store. The protein part is pretty important here. This smoothie won’t taste the same if you use a chocolate/vanilla flavoured protein powder.This Vega berry protein is the BOMB.  I’ve never, ever liked berry flavoured protein until this one. It’s packed with 30g of plant based protein, amino acids, BCAA’s & the flavour is unreal! Even in water it tastes amazing. This is my one and only subscription on Amazon.

Once these are in there, I put approx 1 cup of chopped celery, half an avocado & fill the rest of the blender up with kale. Obviously all of these are easy finds at the grocery store. The celery is especially helpful after workouts as it restores electrolytes.  Add a cup or two of water and blend. Usually once it’s blended I’ll add some ice and blend again for texture.

 

I know what you’re thinking. This sounds like a gross green smoothie that’s good for you and tastes like shit. I thought so too until I tried it. Seriously, this thing is SO good! Just try it.

TO RECAP:

Using a large blender:

  1. Add half cup almond milk
  2. Add 1 tbsp flax seeds
  3. Add 1 scoop Vega berry protein powder
  4. Add 1 scoop greens +
  5. Add 1 cup celery
  6. Add 1/2 avocado
  7. Fill up any unused space with kale
  8. Blend
  9. Add ice
  10. Blend again
