3 Steps to Making ANY Dry Shampoo Work

If you’re anything like me, you’ve had that moment with dry shampoo where you’re sure every celebrity, hair dresser and friend with perfect hair is LYING! The stuff doesn’t work, your hair doesn’t look any better and now you’re really don’t have time to fix it. What. The. Fuck.

Lately I’ve come across some crazy useful advice that has changed the way I use dry shampoo and it WORKS! I get what everyones talking about now.

Here are 3 steps to using dry shampoo if you want great hair you only have to wash twice per week:

  1. Dry shampoo should be used as a preventative measure

This means right after you blow dry or air dry freshly washed hair, put in dry shampoo. Putting dry shampoo on day 3 hair won’t produce much of a result, however when it’s applied right after a wash it stops the oil from forming at the same speed, keeps your hair smelling great and makes your hair easier to work with.

   2. The more powder the dry shampoo has, the more absorbent it is

This will help you choose the right one for you. If you have hair that can accumulate a lot of oil, use a more powder based product. I personally love the Lush Dry Shampoo. If you just want it for texturing purposes you can use one that’s an aerosol or light powder.

   3. Worst come to worst, use hairspray

The alcohol in hairspray will help absorb oils and can have a similar effect. This means if you can’t get your hands on any dry shampoo and want to preserve your blowout, spray a bit of hairspray where you would normally apply dry shampoo and voila!
