4 Steps to Flawless Post Workout Hair in 30 minutes

Ok, so this is one of the most annoying things about being a girl EVER! I know people who will skip workouts sometimes due to the fact that it would ruin their hair for the day. And honestly, I understand. It’s a pain in the ass and time consuming.

Welcome to a new world. Here are 4 steps to flawless post workout hair.

1. Dry shampoo when your hair is clean

This is the number one game changer. As soon as you blow out your hair put in dry shampoo. This will help prevent oil buildup and keep your hair smelling great. Dry shampoo on day 3 hair when it’s already oily and dirty doesn’t work nearly as well.

2. Put your hair in a top knot/high ponytail so not all your hair is touching your scalp during your workout

Doesn’t have to be super cute, but think of gathering all your hair at the top of your head and creating a bun or high ponytail where the end of your hair isn’t directly touching your scalp. The more distance between the ends of your hair and your scalp the better. Use bobby pins instead of headbands to avoid any crimps.

3. Sweat isn’t as gross as you think

I know what you’re thinking – how can you deal with having a sweaty scalp and not wash your hair? Here’s the thing, I know your hair feels WET after a workout, but it’s only a cm-half inch of moisture on the hair closest to the scalp. So, unless it’s a designated wash day, don’t feel obligated to wash or get your hair wet in your post workout shower. As long as you’re washing your hair 1-2x/week you’ll kill any bacteria and keep a healthy scalp.

4. Blow dry on cold

Once you get out of the shower, let your hair down and turn your head upside down and blow dry your scalp on the cold air setting. This is really important because your body is already heated up so the cool air will help it cool down and feel amazing!

5. Dry shampoo!

Once more, dry shampoo. I just put a little bit on my part and the back of my head. You’ll see – your hair will feel & smell amazing! If you don’t have any dry shampoo with you you can use hairspray, the alcohol in hairspray will help absorb oils.

6. Style as Needed

If you want to touch up with a straightener or curler, go for it.

7. Oil

If you’ve been using dry shampoo for 2 or more days in a row (ish) I find the hair can get a bit of a matted look. To finish off the look put some oil or shine spray from the middle of your hair to the ends and it will keep it looking fresh.

I was always that person who had to wash my hair after a workout and these steps have CHANGED MY LIFE! I hope it helps 🙂
